Utah Gov. Wants States to Decide

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert has sent a letter to Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada and Republican House Speaker John Boehner of Ohio.

Herbert believes that gaming laws should be decided by states and not the U.S. government; that’s the gist of his letter. Utah state lawmakers have already passed a bill - signed by Herbert - that makes Utah the first state to preemptively opt out of any possible federal internet poker regulation. House Bill 108 states that internet gambling is included in the state ban on gaming, but apparently that isn't enough for Utah! Herbert wants congressional leaders to oppose efforts to legalize internet poker.
