Gulf Coast Casinos Ordered Closed

Because of Hurricane Isaac, the Mississippi Gaming Commission ordered the closure of all Gulf Coast casinos by Tuesday.

All customers were to be out the door by Tuesday morning of the 12 casinos that are all located on or near the Gulf of Mexico. An afternoon deadline was set to secure the properties by casino staffs.

Two casinos in Hancock County - the Silver Slipper and Hollywood - were closed on Monday when officials ordered a mandatory evacuation due to the low-lying areas.

"The commission is continually monitoring the weather conditions and will issue orders to reopen the properties when conditions are safe for casino employees and patrons," Gaming Commission spokesman Rob Vickers said in a statement.

The curious afterthought: Can you imagine what would happen if all the casinos in Las Vegas were closed by the Nevada Gaming Commission? The world would probably spin off its axis since casino patrons couldn't get their daily fix - we can't even go far enough to explain what would happen due to catastrophic casino profits lost – check with Sheldon Adelson and Steve Wynn on that.

It would be a total nightmare, possibly the state would have to send in troops to squelch the rioting, and then we'd have to have a federal bailout to help cover the lost money.
